The Yale Undergraduate Shakespeare Company (YUSC) was founded in 1994 by a group of students distraught by the seeming lack of undergraduate interest in Shakespeare. The spring of the following year saw the company's inaugural production of King Lear. Over the next five years, the company produced eight more shows and sought to keep Shakespearean performance alive and thriving on Yale campus.

In recent years the YUSC has been sadly dormant, but this year, beginning Fall 2005, the company is making a comeback. The YUSC is dedicated to creating a community of undergraduate actors, directors, production workers, and general Bardolators with the goal of revitalizing and expanding Yale College's love for all things Shakespeare.

In addition to facilitating the performance of Shakespeare, the YUSC will hold regular Shakespearean Readings beginning Fall 2005. Anyone interested can attend (as a performer or an audience member!) and there will be cakes and ale for all! Or at least general merriment and camraderie and brilliant literature. If you are interested in suggesting a play for one of the readings OR in helping to organize them, email Readings Coordinator, Mary Ellen Leuver.

Questions? Comments? Want to get involved? Mount a show? Or just want to stay updated with the YUSC mailing list? Email YUSC President, Sara Holdren. Go, bid the soldiers shoot!
