Yale College Fellowships for International Research in the Sciences

The Yale College Fellowship for International Research in the Sciences Program provides support for original undergraduate research projects abroad in the natural and applied sciences. Currently enrolled freshmen, sophomores and juniors are eligible to apply.

Further information about eligibility, proposal development, and application requirements are provided in the full application instructions. An informational session will be held in January.

Applications for summer 2010 support should be sent to: Yale College Fellowships for International Research in the Sciences c/o William Segraves, Yale College Dean's Office, SSS 20. To assure consideration for the summer of 2010, applications should be received by March 5, 2010. Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a pre-application (see instructions) by February 8, 2010.

Applications should include the following:

1) A completed copy of the Student Grants Database registration page.

2) A description of the proposed research project, including the research and training objectives, and how these will prepare the applicant for further study in his or her field of interest.

3) A proposed project budget.

4) A copy of the applicant's transcript and a description of relevant experience.

5) A completed copy of the Yale College Fellowship for International Research in the Sciences Language Proficiency Evaluation Form.

6) A list of other fellowships for which the applicant has applied or intends to apply.

7) A sealed, confidential evaluation from the proposed mentor, including evaluation of the qualifications and potential of the student, the scholarly and pedagogic merits of the proposed project, and a detailed plan for the supervision of the project.

8) If mentor is a Yale faculty member who will not be accompanying the student during the project period, a letter of support from the in-country institution or institutions where the project will be carried out.

9) Up to one additional recommendation addressing the applicant's qualifications for the proposed project.
