The Yale Student Environmental Coalition is pleased to offer you an incredible opportunity. We want to send you to an environmental conference of your choice! Here’s how it works. First, you find a conference you want to attend. A short list of conferences is attached below, but feel free to find others. Then, fill out the short application below. If we think the conference is worthwhile and that you are committed to learning about the material presented there, we will pay for you to go! It really is as easy as that. Download Conference Application If you are interested in applying to attend a conference, please thoroughly read and fill out the application. In general, applications are due at least three weeks before the start of the conference. (In some cases, special exceptions can be made; contact the YSEC co-chairs). The application may be submitted by email to the co-chairs, left in the YSEC mailbox in Dwight Hall, or given to the co-chairs at a YSEC meeting (every Wednesday from 8:00 to 9:00 pm in the Dwight Hall library). A committee of YSEC members will review the applications we receive on a rolling basis and let you know whether we are able to offer you funding. We are looking for funding applicants who have shown a marked commitment to environmentalism, either through activities on campus or elsewhere. Moreover, we want applicants who are enthusiastic and passionate about the environment and who will proudly represent the Yale Student Environmental Coalition and Yale University at the conference. Put differently, we hope you are as excited to attend the conference as we are to send you! Upon your return to campus, you will be asked to share what you have learned with the rest of us in the environmental community. This might include making a presentation at a YSEC meeting or hosting a special event on campus. Part of the application asks you to brainstorm creative ways to share the new knowledge you would acquire. Any questions regarding the application process should be directed by email to the YSEC co-chairs. In addition, if you want to attend a conference but are having trouble finding one, let us know. We will be happy to offer you some suggestions. We hope you will take the time to find a conference that interests you and apply for our funding. The application process is simple and relaxed, and the payoff may prove extraordinary. Best of luck!
