Concerts & Tours
Concerts
The Slavic Chorus will perform a number of concerts in the Connecticut and New York area throughout the academic year. Over the past years, the Slavic Chorus has performed for the White House, various Yale fellowship and administrative dinners and even a Yale presidential dinner with a Supreme Court judge of China. The Chorus not only performs at high profile events, but we also take the time to sing for local elementary, middle and high schools, New Haven and neighboring cities' cultural festivals, nursing homes and our own semester concerts hosted at Yale.

Tours
Every year the Chorus tours within the United States during Yale's spring break holiday. In recent years we've explored the Massachusettes and Vermont areas (2006) and the New Jersey and New York City areas (2007).
Every five years or so the Chorus travels internationally for two weeks or so to the regions that are home to our unique music.

Workshops
Schools and Churches are often interested in hiring the Slavic Chorus for workshops and master teaching classes. The workshops are wonderful for students of all musical backgrounds and levels and are sure to provide a unique and exciting cultural experience for music lovers of all ages.
Most workshops provide a general overview of the characteristics that make Eastern European music unique from Western styled music, such as the Yik! and the Yo! We also inculde musical exercises such as practice with the mountain holler (heard in our Bulgarian classic, Ya Helo), chest voice versus head voice exercises and clapping exercises which deal with typical Eastern European meter in 5 or 7. Workshops are fun and are a great way for us to share our cultural knowledge of Eastern Europe and the Balkans.
