News from the 2005-2006 Season
It's a wrap!
Many thanks to everyone who helped organize our concert at Christ Church in Guilford. It was a perfect conclusion to an amazing year.
We hold auditions for new members throughout the year. If you are interested in singing in the YRC next year, please send an e-mail to Helen
for more information. No prepared piece is needed, and no knowledge of Russian is required.
The YRC store is closed for the summer. If you are interested in purchasing CDs or t-shirts, please get in touch with us in the fall.
April 6, 2007: Thanks for a wonderful tour! | Spring Concert
We greatly appreciate the efforts of everyone who helped make our Spring Tour to the Virginia-D.C. area an excellent one. We would like to thank all of our concert venues, our hosts at UVA and in Washington, and the YRC alumni who joined us on stage in Falls Church, Va. We are already looking forward to next year's tour.
Don't miss our final on-campus concert of the year, on Friday, April 20 at 7 p.m. in the Dwight Hall chapel (67 High St in New Haven)!
February 27, 2007: Thank you, First Church of Greenwich! and... Spring Tour
Many thanks to the First Congregational Church of Greenwich and their music director John Stansell. We were delighted to be able to sing in such a packed hall and for such a gracious audience.
Take a look at our concerts page to see the itinerary of our spring tour.
February 7, 2007: Thank you, St. Paul's and St. Saviour's!
We'd like to thank St. Paul's Episcopal Church and St. Saviour's Episcopal Church for hosting us recently. It is always a pleasure to sing at churches here in Connecticut. In addition, we'd like to thank St. Paul's choir and their director John Abdenour for delighting us with their music. On another note, we would like to welcome the newest additions to our chorus this semester: Gregory Ealey, Joshua Purtle, and Aarlo Stone Fish.
January 21, 2007: C novym godom!
Happy New Year! The Yale Russian Chorus is back in New Haven and ready for a busy and exciting semester—visit our Concerts page for our spring schedule, which includes a week-long visit to Virginia and DC. Auditions for the spring semester are welcome; e-mail Ilyana
for more information.
November 15, 2006: Long-awaited updates...
First of all, a long-overdue thank you goes out to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Newburyport, which welcomed us so warmly and helped make our trip to northeastern Massachussetts so very memorable. We hope to visit again one day...
We've set a date for our winter concert: Friday, December 8, at 7:30 (see our Concerts page for more info.) If you're curious about joining the Chorus, or if you have any other questions about our concerts, recordings, or repertoire, please get in touch. We'll be looking forward to hearing from you soon, or even better, seeing you on December 8th!
October 8, 2006: Thank you, SS Peter and Paul's!
Our new members' first Yale Russian Chorus concert went splendidly: we had the opportunity to sing in the beautiful SS Peter & Paul Orthodox Church church, as well as chat with parishoners and other audience members during the post-concert reception. We hope to sing there again in years to come!
On another note, some photos from last years spring tour to the Pacific Northwest have finally been posted. Please see the photo gallery.
