News from the 2005-2006 Season

May 12, 2006: Mnogaya leta!

It's the end of another great year for the Yale Russian Chorus. We'll miss our graduating seniors very much, but we have an exciting year ahead. Our concert schedule is still open; if you are interested in booking the YRC, please e-mail our concert manager, Helen Deng e-mail.

We'll begin auditioning new members as soon as school starts—any interested member of the Yale or New Haven community is welcome to join us. For more info or to schedule an audition (no prepared piece or Russian language skills necessary) contact Ilyana Sawka e-mail.

April 14, 2006: Thank you Saint Barbara's!

Last Saturday we had a fantastic time singing at the beautiful Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church. We were thrilled to be able to sing alongside the Saint Barbara Choir, who captivated us with their Greek chants. A video of the concert in RealPlayer format is currently available on their web site.

We'd also like to thank the Yale Slavic Chorus and Yevshan for cooperating with us to produce a great Slavic Choral Festival concert on March 25. We look forward to working with you in years to come.

March 21, 2006: Back from the corner of the States...

We just returned to New Haven from our spring tour to the Seattle/Vancouver area!  We had amazing concerts and great times.  We'd like to thank our hosts—especially YRC alums Fiona Goodwillie, Jordan Prutkin, and Murray Sargent—and all of our concert venues.  We'd also like to thank the alumni and friends of the chorus who donated to make this tour possible: we can't thank you enough!

We're now getting ready for our final on-campus concert of the school year, the Slavic Choral Festival, which will be held at United Church on the Green this Saturday at 8:00 and will feature the Yale Slavic Chorus and Yevshan. We hope to see you there!

January 29, 2006: Bridge of Hope Concert

Many thanks to all who were involved in organizing the Bridge of Hope benefit concert. We enjoyed sharing our songs with you at the United Church on the Green, and we wish the program continued success in finding homes for Russian orphans.

November 6, 2005: YRC Yard Sale

Recent excavations in the YRC office have unearthed some exciting finds -- a limited number of our most recent album, Chants and Carols (1996), as well as CD and cassette versions of the 40th Anniversary Concert, the Red Album, and the Blue Album. We're also selling YRC t-shirts (for true Chorus groupies!) Please visit our Recordings page for more information.

October 28, 2005: Tour updates

Our Seattle/Vancouver tour plans are coming along well, and we're thrilled to be bringing our music to the West Coast for the first time in several years. Donations to help get us there, however, would be wholeheartedly welcomed -- please e-mail our business manager, Helen e-mail, for more information on making a tax-deductible contribution. Your donation will also help us fund our next recording, back by popular demand, tentatively scheduled for production and release next year!

October 16, 2005: Thank you, Wellesley!

We'd like to thank Wellesley College and Professor Tom Hodge for hosting our first full concert of the school year -- and also, the Schram family for their incredible hospitality. Also, welcome to our newest member (and bass) -- Daniel Weisfield!

October 10, 2005: El Paso photo gallery

At long last, a few photos from our 2005 spring tour to El Paso are now available online. Feel free to visit and enjoy!

October 5, 2005: From Duke to DC...

Members of the Yale Russian Chorus traveled to Duke and George Washington Universities this past weekend to join with our alumni for a spectacular concert tour. It was a wonderful experience to sing with our alumni and founder, Denis Mickiewicz. The nine members who went would like to thank the alumni for their assistance in learning the music and for providing the necessary travel funds. We look forward to working with you in the future!

September 28, 2005: Congratulations to our new members

We're proud to welcome our four newest members to the Chorus: Stephen Bruce, Nick DiEugenio, Ben Kellogg and Joel Knopf. We'll continue to audition throughout the year, so please e-mail Gary e-mail for more info and an audition time.

August 28, 2005: Welcome, class of '09!

If you're looking for a unique and unforgettable musical experience, the Yale Russian Chorus is the group for you! An exciting year is ahead, with concerts planned around the tri-state area and Massachusetts, and a spring break tour to the Pacific Northwest. Auditions will be held for the first few weeks of fall semester for any interested member of the Yale or New Haven community; e-mail Gary Gregoricka e-mail for more information. (No Russian language skills are necessary, and you won't need to prepare a piece for your audition.) We are also seeking hosts for our 2006 spring break tour to Seattle and Vancouver! If you'd be interested in having the YRC perform for your community, please e-mail our tour manager, Jessie Theobald-Ellner e-mail, for more information. We hope to hear from you soon!
