During the latest Precambrian times (580-560 million years ago), a group of organisms that Dolf Seliacher has termed the Vendobionta thrived in the Proto-Atlantic Ocean. At Mistaken Point, Newfoundland, Vendian age organisms have been discovered. Shown above are some images of Vendobionta from Mistaken Point. These images represent fiberglass casts made in the laboratory from silicone molds that were prepared in the field by Dolf and his colleagues from Tubingen University, Germany. The Mistaken Point biota is dominated by the five different forms shown above with their common names attatched.
