YMPO actively seeks physicians in the New Haven area to participate as mentors. It is preferable that your work location is in New Haven and accessible to the Yale University campus, because it is difficult for students to reach other areas outside New Haven.
Time Commitment - Students typically accompany physicians for one afternoon every two weeks or one month. The time commitment is low and the arrangements are left up to the physician and student.
Requirements - As a mentor you will not be required to make special arrangements or plans for your student; allowing them to accompany you during your work is more than sufficient.
Procedure - If you would like to mentor, simply provide YMPO with information regarding the time commitment and experiences you can offer. Students will use this information to decide if they are interested in shadowing you. Out of all interested students, we will select one student by lottery that may shadow you for any given term. We will be sure to provide you with a committed student to mentor.
