Welcome to Yale Model United Nations
Empowering Co-operation,
Connecting Your World:

amandlaDear Delegates and Advisors,

I am incredibly honored to invite you all to the thirty-fifth annual session of the Yale Model United Nations Conference. YMUN XXXV: Empowering Cooperation, Connecting Your World will be held from January 22 to January 25, 2009 at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut

For over 34 years, YMUN has offered
the most exciting and unique committee experience on the high school model UN circuit. It is our goal this year to bring 1200 delegates to the conference, and ensure that 1/5 our participants are international students. Without a doubt, at YMUN XXXV you will interact with the most diverse and globally diverse staff I have ever had the privilege to work with. As a team determined to develop the most stimulating, and best-run committees YMUN has ever seen, you will have the chance to debate and caucus in committees ranging from DISEC to the Supreme Court, SPECPOL to Press Corps, Legal to Ugandan Presidential Cabinet.

From pre-conference forums, to a revamped “Yale Day”, we will be engaging you both in and out of committee. Our conference is held entirely on Yale’s beautiful campus noted for its gothic architecture and picturesque courtyards. I encourage you to take full advantage of the Yale classes, panels and tours that we are organizing just for you.

YMUN XXXV is more than just a competition. YMUN XXXV is an engaging and personal learning environment for international relations. You will challenge yourself to really think like a global citizen and take ownership over your own international and cultural understanding – at times academic, at others social, but always with pragmatism.

On behalf of the entire YMUN XXXV team, we are incredibly excited to embark on this learning experience with you. Until I see you in January, please do not hesitate to contact me with any Yale, Model UN or YMUN questions, comments or concerns.

Boola Boola!
