IAEA info suggests Iran worked on nuclear missile

(Associated Press) The U.N. nuclear monitoring agency shared new photos and documents purporting to show that Iran tried to refit its main long-distance missile to carry a nuclear payload, said diplomats who attended the meeting Tuesday. Responding to the presentation to the 35-nation board of the International Atomic Energy Agency, a senior U.S. envoy said the information was compelling evidence against the Islamic Republic. His Iranian counterpart said the material shown was fabricated.

IAEA shows photos alleging Iran nuclear missile work

(YNet) The UN nuclear watchdog showed documents and photographs on Tuesday suggesting Iran secretly tried to modify a missile cone to fit a nuclear bomb, diplomats said, and Tehran again dismissed the findings as forged.

Ahmadinejad: Iran will support Hamas until collapse of Israel

(Haaretz) Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad vowed Friday to keep supporting the Palestinian militant group Hamas until the "collapse of Israel." The Iranian news agency Khabar quoted Ahmadinejad as telling Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh that Iran views the support of the Palestinian people as part of its religious and national duty and that Iran will stand behind the Palestinian nation "until the big victory feast which is the collapse of the Zionist regime."

Berlusconi accuses Iran of "lunacy" on Israel

(Reuters) Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi accused Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday of acting like a lunatic when it comes to Israel, and said the world needed to keep a close eye on him. "I think we must pay the utmost attention to the lunacy of someone who says, perhaps for internal reasons, that Israel must be wiped off the map," Berlusconi said to a Jewish organisation in Paris, where he was receiving an award.

Israel Waging 'Secret War With Iran'

(NY Sun) Israel and America are intensifying a clandestine war against Iran that has run hot and cold since the Islamic Revolution in 1979 but has grown more urgent as Iran races to obtain an atomic bomb. That is a central claim in a new book, "The Secret War with Iran," by an Israeli journalist, Ronen Bergman, who also details a series of mishaps during the past 2 1/2 years that have likely delayed Iran's efforts to go nuclear.

 Ahmadinejad says Israel won't survive

(Associated Press) — Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad lashed out at Israel on Thursday, saying the Jewish state would not survive, even if it gave up land for a Palestinian state. He also dismissed allegations that his country is trying to make nuclear arms.  Speaking to reporters in Tehran, the hard-line leader smirked at the former mantra of the Israeli right of a "Greater" Israel that would include land Palestinians want for a future state.

Antisemitism and Islamophobia rising across Europe, survey finds

(Guardian)In contrast to the US and Britain where unfavourable opinion of Jews has been stable and low for several years at between 7 and 9%, the Pew Survey of Global Attitudes found that hostile attitudes to Jews were rising all across continental Europe from Russia and Poland in the east to Spain and France in the west.

In meeting with French Jews, Pope condemns anti-Semitism

(European Jewish Press) Pope Benedict XVI condemned all forms of anti-Semitism and called  for the strengthening of relations between Christians and Jews, at a meeting Friday with French Jewish leaders in Paris.

Italy: Criticism of Israel not necessarily anti-Semitism, says FM

(Adnkronos) Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini said on Wednesday that criticism of Israel should not be confused with anti-Semitism. He made the remarks while speaking at a summit titled "Israel, Europe and a new vision for the Middle East.” “There is a widespread anti-Semitism that unfortunately is confused with legitimate political criticism of Israel," said the Italian foreign minister.

 Romania to host regional conference on combating anti-Semitism

(Financiarul) Romania's Foreign Ministry (MAE), in cooperation with the Elie Wiesel National Institute for Holocaust Studies and the Romanian National Defence College are holding today in Bucharest a regional conference on combating anti-Semitism. Romania is one of the main supporters of the idea of holding a conference on combating anti-Semitism, discrimination and intolerance, under the aegis of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

Self-styled preacher of hate Omar Bakri claimed the former Beatle’s decision to take part in the Jewish state’s 60th anniversary celebrations had made him an enemy of all Muslims.

NORTH AMERICA

Yale students 'end' US-Israel relations

An undergraduate debating society at Yale University has voted 44-25 in favor of ending America's "special relationship" with Israel. The vote at the Yale Political Union came after a three-hour debate between students and University of Chicago political science Prof. John Mearsheimer, who, with colleague Stephen Walt, has been a fierce advocate of upending the power of pro-Israel lobbyists in Washington. The vote follows similar, though more extreme resolutions, last year from Oxford University's student union against the influence of pro-Israel lobbyists.
