The Yale Initiative for the Interdisciplinary The Yale Initiative for the Interdisciplinary Study of Antisemitism (YIISA) is dedicated to the scholarly research of the origins and manifestations associated with antisemitism globally, as well as other forms of prejudice, including racisms, as it relates to policy. Through the examination of antisemitism and policy, YIISA disseminates scholarly material so to promote further understanding and contribute to aspects of policy analysis. The Faculty of Humanities at Tel Aviv University is seeking to make a three-year appointment of a Head of the Stephan Roth Institute for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism and Racism. Appointment will begin October 1, 2009, pending budgetary and administrative approval. The successful candidate will be a scholar of distinction specializing in 20th century Jewish History, with an outstanding record of research and proven administrative experience. He/she will play a major role in directing the research in the fields of Anti-Semitism and Racism and will be responsible for the various activities of the Institute, such as promoting research in the fields that the Institute covers, organizing scholarly events and public programs, directing the Data Center of the Institute, monitoring the publications of the Institute, as well as taking active part towards raising the funds necessary for further development of the Institute’s academic goals. He/she will be encouraged to teach one graduate or undergraduate course each semester. Knowledge of Hebrew is not required but is an advantage. The candidate may also be considered for appointment to a new chair in Modern Jewish History which is being established in 2009.
