Our services
The Urgent Care Department is a 24-hour, seven day a week acute care service staffed around the clock by physicians, physicians associates and nurse practitioners trained to evaluate and treat most acute medical problems. Urgent Care provides expedient patient-focused ambulatory, non-scheduled medical care for minor illnesses and injury. Patients requiring care for more complex medical issues are transferred to the appropriate level of care.
- For emergencies such as seizures, severe chest pain or difficulty breathing, immediately call 911 (off campus) or 111 (on campus).
- If uncertain about the severity of the problem you should call Urgent Care at (203) 432-0123.
- You will be advised either to call 911, to come to Urgent Care or to contact your primary care clinician.

- What is an “urgent” problem?
"Urgent" problems are illnesses or injuries that require prompt care but will not generally cause loss of life or severe impairment if left untreated for a brief time. - What is an “emergency”?
"Emergency" refers to a situation where an illness is presently or potentially life threatening or threatens severe impairment if the patient is not seen immediately. For same day access please call your primary care clinician. - What do I do if I have a need to see someone today but it is not an “urgent” problem?
For advice about same day access for medical problems which are not urgent during regular business hours and days, please contact Internal Medicine for adults (203-432-0038), Pediatrics for children (203-432-0206) or Student Medicine for students and student dependents (203-432-0312). The nurse coordinator or clinician will assist you in planning for your care.
For advice about same day access during evenings and weekends, please call (203-432-0123) or come directly to Urgent Care. - How can I get my test results?
For lab tests drawn in Urgent Care, please contact our department at 203-432-0123 for results and follow-up care. Usually your Primary Care Clinician will be handling your follow-up care but we will be able to provide you with the test results.
