PEP-SLAM

PEP-SLAM (Prison Education Project—Student Legal Action Movement) works to maximize the opportunity for the incarcerated to improve their conditions. Students serve as tutors in local prisons in Connecticut, preparing inmates to get their GEDs (General Equivalency Diploma) or exploring extracurricular interests, like Art Appreciation and Creative Writing. The tutoring commitment is about three hours per week. Students also pursue activism and advocacy in order to reform the criminal justice system and eliminate injustice at all levels.

Contact: Pria Anand or Peter Lu to tutor,

Nick Handler about advocacy and activism.
