Christianity is not about religion. For those of us who have experienced first hand the love, the mercy, and the amazing presence and power God, Christianity is so much more. It is about a divine relationship with God the Father, Jesus His son, and the Holy Spirit. The father is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. Jesus is the messiah; the Lamb of God who paid the price for the sins of the world. The Holy Spirit is the comforter. The spirit leads us, brings the revelation of God and his word, and the spirit is the power of God working through us.

God is an awesome, powerful force in the world. Throughout the Bible he is referred to by many different names, because one name alone is not enough to fully describe the smallest aspect of His awesome character. God is Jehovah-Shammah, or "God is present with me." He is with us all the time- walking with us, carrying us, and guiding our lives. God is Jehovah-Jireh, or "God is my provider." He wants us to rely fully upon Him for all of our needs, and to have complete faith in Him. God is Jehovah-Shalom, or "God is my peace." In a world that is upside down and shaky, God will keep in peace him whose mind is stayed on God (Isaiah 26: 3). God is patient, merciful, forgiving, all knowing, and most of all loving. God says that he wants to bless us exceedingly and abundantly, above all we ever dared to dream, and his word is full of promises for us to claim. God is good, and listens to the cries of His children. He has our best interests at heart, even when we cannot understand His ways. Psalm 145: 8-9 says "The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The Lord is Good to all..."

God is so good, in fact, that he sent his only son to the world. Jesus, the son of God, was the spotless Lamb that would serve as the ultimate sacrifice. God is completely holy, but we are not. We are human, and therefore subject to the temptation and sin of the world. It is not enough to simply "live a good life," or even to go to church, because no human means can attain God's holiness. It is boastful to think that we can live perfect lives on our own- it is only by accepting Jesus' sacrificial death on the cross as payment for the sins of the entire world that we can be in God's awesome presence. In John 10:9 Jesus says "I am the Door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out and find pasture." Jesus is our one and only gateway into heaven. He gives us everlasting life in the father. Just before he died Jesus said "It is finished" (John 19:30). Another translation of his final words use a Greek accounting term meaning "It is paid in full." Jesus paid the price for our sins, and all we need to do is accept that gift. He offers us an abundant life that this world cannot offer.

God desires to be with us daily. We are on his mind he wants us to prosper and be in health (Jeremiah 31: 3-4). While you may not know Him, he knows everything about you: every thought, every desire, every stress that enters your life. He knows your darkest secrets and shames, and even so, he loves you completely, in ways you cannot imagine. He is at the door to your heart, knocking, and waiting for you to invite him in.
