FAQ

1. When/where are the Yeast at Yale sessions?
Currently, Yeast at Yale is scheduled to take place on the LAST Thursday of every month at 1 pm.
The sessions alternate between Science Hill (currently Bass 405) and the Medical School (currently SHM C-103).
Please see the schedule for the location of a given session.
2. Where is Bass or SHM?
3. What if this location/date/time doesn't work for me?
As you know, it's hard to schedule an event and accomodate everybody. However, please contact one of the organizers and let us know what your preferences are. If enough people voice their concerns, we can discuss the options of moving the location/date/time at an upcoming organizational meeting. We will try to hold at least two organizational meetings per year to allow voices to be heard and changes to be made.
4. Can I volunteer to speak?
YES!!!
Contact the organizers. We are entirely dependant on volunteers. No volunteer speakers = no Yeast at Yale.
5. What if I don't have a complete story?
No problem. We like work "in progress" just as much as work "in press". We want to encourage people to speak and share their science, even if it is not yet ready for prime time.
6. Who do I contact to volunteer?
Veronica or Andrew, one of the organizers.
7. What is the format of the sessions?
Two talks, thirty minutes each, plus five minutes for questions/discussion. Powerpoint talks are preferred.
8. What equipment do I need if I'm presenting?
We provide the LCD projectors. You supply your laptop. If you need an overhead projector, please give us advance notice.
9. What if I don't have a laptop?
Please let us know in advance so we can come up with an alternative (for example, arrange with your co-presenter to use their laptop). However, please be advised that sometimes there are cross-platform issues that prevent the correct displaying of slides. We are not responsible if your slides do not display correctly on another computer.
10. What about a laser pointer?
We can provide a pointing stick. Anything fancier is up to you.
11. Do you have a mailing list? Do you send out an email reminder of meetings?
Yes and yes. To add/remove your name to the list, contact one of the organizers.
12. Do you have a website?
Seriously?
13. Can I help organize Yeast at Yale?
Sure! Contact one of the organizers. We won't be at Yale forever (hopefully), so we will need people to take over when our time is up.
14. I'm hungry.
Relax, we serve pizza and soda at all Yeast at Yale sessions.
