A two-day intensive class for beginning sailors providing
10 hours of teaching from two instructors including chalk board explanations,
sailing demonstrations and on-the-water instruction. Students will learn
the basics of sailing: rigging, launching, basic maneuvering, capsize and
rescue, and landing. After this class, students will be able to enjoy sailing
and the open waters on their own.
420 Level II
Mon & Wed 5:30-7:30pm
Designed for sailors who have completed the Level 1 class
or have had comparable sailing experience. As conditions allow, the course
will feature some advanced theories of sailing, light or heavy-air sailing
techniques, advanced steering techniques, and an introduction to racing.
Students are encouraged to suggest specific topics for instruction.
Adult Racing Seminar

Class topics are structured toward the interests of both the veteran
and aspiring racer. A basic knowledge of racing and small boat handling
experience is expected from participants. You will learn racing tactics
and strategies, starts, mark roundings, boat speed, racing rules and protests.
Improved racing technique and extensive sail time constitute the major
portion of this seminar. Racing topics will change periodically.
Weekly Racing Series
Tuesdays, 6pm.
Competitive races for sailors 15 years old and above. Participants must
have racing experience and be prepared to sail in our collegiate 420s.
Races will be conducted within the designated sailing area and will be
run according to current International Yacht Racing Rules. Race committee
will accept protests and results will be posted.
