Here at Yale, we are proud to have as our head coach Zachary Leonard. Zack comes to us after having coached Brown University to the Fowle Trophy for the overall National Championship, and having served as a coach on the US Olympic team. Zack has competed in the Laser, V 15, 505, Tornado and A Cat classes and has won numerous national championships. Zack was a collegiate All American and graduated from Yale in 1989.

Bill comes to Yale University with a long background in sailing and coaching. As a junior sailor, Bill was a member of the Internation 420 world's team for several years running. He was also the North American and Midwinter champion of the class. Bill is a graduate of the St. Mary's College of Maryland where he was selected as ICS All-American three times.
Most Recently Bill has been racing Lightnings where he was the 2002 North American Champion and runner up in 2003. He also races Interclub dinghies in the winter where he has won numerous Mid-Winder titles. He was also US Sailing Men's National Champion in 1995. Not Only is Bill an Accomplished dinghy sailor, he has also won Block Island Race Week two years in a row on his family's 28-foot PHRF boat Sir-Prize.
Since graduating St. Mary's, Bill was the Assistant Dinghy Coach at St. Mary's. While there he coached the team to several District and National Championships. After St. Mary's Bill became the Dinghy Coach at The U.S. Coast Guard Academy for four years. There he coached five All-Americans and turned a struggling team into a nationally ranked team. Bill also coached at the 1999 Youth Worlds in South Africa and has run and coached at numerous clinics.
