ZAINAB AL-SUWAIJ TO SPEAK AT YALE UNIVERSITY

Iraqi Freedom Fighter, Executive Director of the American Islamic Congress and former Yale Lecturer to Give Lecture on War in Iraq for Yale Students for Democracy

NEW HAVEN, CT, March 30, 2003 – Zainab al-Suwaij, Executive Director of the American Islamic Congress, will be speaking at Yale University’s William L. Harkness Hall (100 Wall Street), Room 208 at 4:30 P.M. Tuesday, April 1, 2003 as part of an ongoing lecture series by the Yale College Students for Democracy (YCSD).

“YCSD is privileged to welcome Zainab Al-Suwaij back to Yale,” said YCSD President Matthew Louchheim. “Her dedication to interfaith education, tolerance, and patriotism is praiseworthy. We look forward to exposing the Yale Community to a free Iraqi-American’s perspective on Iraq and its struggle towards liberation.”

Miss Al-Suwaij’s speech is co-sponsored by the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (FDD). She is the Executive Director of the American Islamic Congress and a former Lecturer at Yale. She participated in the 1991 intifadah against Saddam Hussein, and has recently written about her experiences in the Feb. 10 issue of the New Republic.
