The Center's volumes contain the fullest and richest collection of private and public sources - journals, diaries, and other materials - ever assembled.

The importance of these sources cannot be overstated. The accounts were recorded by the members of both Houses of Parliament who had for many years watched with increasing concern as Stuart kings, often in need of funds, worked to attain the more absolute powers enjoyed by their continental counterparts.
