Large Group
The purpose of our weekly meeting of the entire fellowship is to experience God and encourage each other in our pursuit of Him through worship, prayer, speakers, and testimonies. We meet Fridays at 7:30 pm in LC 211.
Worship
Our worship team, Driven, seeks to help us bend our hearts toward God's through music. We believe God inhabits the praises of his people, and we love building up God's house with our song, and Jesus the cornerstone. This semester, we will be focusing on integrating the diverse worship backgrounds of the members of our fellowship (including gospel, latino, and traditional hymns and liturgies).
Prayer
We call on the name of the Lord, together and individually, to declare his praises, repent of our sin, thank him for his overflowing goodness, and seek his help with all our needs.
Speakers
Student leaders and InterVarsity staff regularly give biblical teaching at weekly meetings. We also invite guest speakers from Yale, New Haven, and around the world to speak on a variety of topics. During the 2007-08 year, guest speakers have included:
- Lamont Hiebert, lead singer from Ten Shekel Shirt and co-founder of Justice for Children International (now Love 146: www.love146.org, speaking on "Worship and Justice"
- Fred Sigworth, Professor of Cellular & Molecular Physiology at Yale, speaking on "Is there a Divorce Between Science and Faith?"
- Mo Leverett, founder of Desire Street Ministries in New Orleans, speaking on "Downward Mobility: A Higher Calling"
We hear from one another about our struggles, our triumphs, and the things God teaches us in all aspects of life.
