The YBPS organizes chats to give the local community the opportunity to meet with leaders in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors. Chats also give the visiting leaders the chance to interact closely with members of the local community. Chats occur over breakfast, lunch, or dinner and last up to two hours.

The invited speakers include:

Dr. Jessica Malberg did her post-doc in Dr. Ronald Duman's laboratory at Yale, where she studied the role of hippocampal cell proliferation and neurogenesis on the mechanism of anti-depressant drugs. She then accepted a position in the Neuroscience Discovery Department at Wyeth in Princeton, NJ. There, she worked on a Depression and Anxiety team that investigated the behavioral pharmacology, as well as the mechanisms, of stress, anxiety, and depression. She recently moved to Psychogenics and is currently heading an in vivo group in charge of the screening and drug discovery for neuropsychiatric disorders.

Dr. Janie Merkel did her post-doc at the Institute for Genomic Research (TIGR), where she studied microbial genome sequencing and microarrays. She then returned to New Haven to work on a novel gene expression platform at Agilix. She then moved to Invitrogen in Branford, where she managed the service group in the Protein Array Division. Now she is back at Yale directing the Chemical Genomics Screening Facility.
