Yale Anthropology Society

About YAS

The Yale Anthropology Society is both an assembly of students interested and active in the several sub-fields of anthropology, and a forum where ideas can be discussed and exchanged. Where one discipline informs another, where concepts and opinions can be expressed freely, and where all of the members are united in their common appreciation and wonder about the many facets of humanity. The Anthropology Society is also an important voice for undergraduates in the major, providing a body that can express the sentiments or concerns of an individual or a group to the department administration via a recognized and established channel. For others, the Anthropology Society represents the only organization at Yale dedicated to enriching the undergraduate anthropology experience outside of the course offerings, be it through the Yale-New Haven Ethnography Project, or through the publication of the Journal of Student Anthropology. The society is open to all students with a passion or a passing interest in anthropology—you do not need to be a member or in the major to participate in a meeting or event.

Be sure to check out the report from the Yale Daily News concerning the emergence of the society.
