Tips 'N Tricks:
Authoring and burning a Video DVD-R with iDVD

  1. Export your edited videos from your video editor (such as Final Cut Pro) with the following settings:
  2. Create a new folder on the desktop for your video DVD-R project, name it, and place all of your video assets in that folder.
  3. Launch iDVD and choose "Create a New Project," or select "New" from the File menu. When prompted, select a name for your iDVD project, then select the project folder you have just created and click "Create".
  4. Press the "Customize" button and choose a theme for your video DVD-R from the panel on the left of the iDVD project window. You can customize your project's background picture, music, and other settings from the "Settings" tab. Simply drag and drop your desired design elements to the appropriate drop zones
  5. Construct the DVD menu by dragging the video content from the project folder on your desktop onto the project window of iDVD. Rearrange and rename your clips as you desire.
  6. Click the "Preview" button at any time to test the behavior of your DVD-R project. Try clicking on your clips, making sure they play as expected. Click the "Preview" button again to return to edit mode.
  7. When you are done constructing your project, save it from the File menu to your project folder. If your DVD burn fails for any reason you'll be able to try again without reconstructing your DVD project.
  8. Insert a blank DVD-R into the DVD drive and click the "Burn" button.
  9. Depending on the length of your video content, it can take several hours to process and burn your video DVD-R. Do not leave DVD-R authoring for the last minute !!!!
