Music 390b: Tips 'N Tricks

Compressing Video for Internet streaming:

1. First, launch Quicktime Pro from the Multimedia program group.

2. Second, select "Open file" from the File menu and open your video file.

3. Third, select "Export" from the File menu and select a name and location for the compressed version of your video file.

4. Fourth, on the "Export" pulldown menu choose the "Movie to MPEG-4" setting.

5. Fifth, click the "Options" button and the MP4 Export Settings window will appear.

6. Sixth, click the "Video" tab and choose the following settings:Video Format: MPEG-4 Improved

Image Size: 320x240
Frame Rate: Current

Leave all other video settings at their default values.

7. Seventh, click the "Audio" tab and choose the following settings:

Audio Format: AAC-LC
Data Rate: 96 kbps
Channels: (use the same setting as your original material is -- either mono or stereo)
Output Sample Rate: 44.1
Encoding Quality: Better

8. Eighth, click the "Streaming" tab and check on the "Enable streaming" button. Click OK, then click the "Save" button to export your final.
