Music 390b: Practical Applications in Music, Multimedia Art & Technology II

Course Description:

A continuation of the study of practical software and hardware applications in music, multimedia art, and technology. Additional topics include real-time, interactive audio and video performance environments, as well as ongoing study of sample editing and digital signal processing, digital mixing, digital synthesis, digital sampling, programming, stop animation and video.

Required materials:

Blank CD-R, CD-RW, and DVD-R media

Optional materials:

External Firewire drive

Course Library Reserve:

A collection of sample CD-roms

Grading:

  • Class AND lab section attendance/participation/presentation(s) --- 10%
  • MidTerm Performance Group Project --- 40%

    • MidTerm Performance Group Project Proposal Submission --- 10%
    • MidTerm Performance Group Project WIP Lab Presentation/Submission --- 15%
