QUADERNI DI YIP

YALE UNIVERSITY

Dear Readers / Subscribers,

The editorial committee of YIP. YALE ITALIAN POETRY® has been working intensely to strengthen and enhance the journal's contribution to contemporary cultural discourse, seeking to expand its presence in the centers of poetic, literary, and philosophical research. In light of this effort, we are pleased to announce that beginning with Volume III, nos. 1-2 (1999), a new publication has joined the annual appearance of our journal: QUADERNI DI YIP, a single annual volume that will henceforth be included in the regular yearly subscription to YIP. YALE ITALIAN POETRY®.

With QUADERNI DI YIP, we intend to launch a concentrated program aimed at amplifying the analysis and discussion of contemporary Italian poetry spearheaded by YIP, leading it toward a wider sphere of intellectual inquiry.

QUADERNI DI YIP therefore submits to readers and scholars a forum that spans from reflections on literary criticism devoted to the cultural and epistemological problems of contemporary Italian poetical and poetological production in its international context, to the analysis and study of translation, a discussion that explores the problem of writing through a semiological methodology that puts into opposition different codes.

The first issue of QUADERNI DI YIP (I - 2001) has reprinted some contributions that have been read in occasion of the Second Annual Conference of the Italian Poetic Society of America (IPSA), held on November 12-14, 1998, at Yale University.

In anticipation of a warm reception for our new cultural initiative, and the hope that it will further stimulate contibutions to our publications, we take this opportunity to express our sincerest gratitude to all of our readers and subscribers.

Paolo Valesio
