The basics of YaleInfo
The working units of the YaleInfo portal are pages and portlets. Page tabs are displayed in the dark blue bar below the header. Each page can hold a number of different portlets. Portlets are individual cells which hold one type of content from a particular source. Portlets can be arranged in one or several columns on the page.
You must log in to YaleInfo to customize your pages. Custom page views are not available in the guest view (the page you see before logging in).
Use the “Add Portlets” or “Edit Page” links to customize your pages. “Add Portlets” gives you a list of existing portlets by category. Portlets that you add will appear on your current YaleInfo page. “Edit Page” allows you to change the number of columns and column widths for your current page.
Moving portlets
To move a portlet from one column to another, or vertically within a column, click the mouse button and hold it down anywhere in the blue portlet title bar, drag the portlet to the location you prefer, and then let the mouse button up. The portlet should snap into place in the new location.
The guest view
If you go to YaleInfo and you are not logged in, you will see the guest view with a single “Home” page. You can't customize the YaleInfo guest view, but you can still minimize and maximize portlets on the guest Home page. The guest page is visible to all visitors, both inside and outside of Yale. All other pages and portlets within YaleInfo are visible only to Yale NetID holders who have logged into YaleInfo.
Your personal YaleInfo pages
When you log in, your personalized pages are displayed. You can customize the layout of your personal pages by adding, removing, and rearranging pages, portlets, your favorite RSS feeds, and your favorite bookmarks. When you logout, changes to your personal layout are saved, and you'll see them again next time you log in to YaleInfo.
