Leave of Absence and Withdrawal
|
Withdrawal from Yale College is distinguished from a Leave of Absence. A student whose request for a one-term or two-term Leave of Absence has been approved by the Committee on Honors and Academic Standing normally may return to Yale College as scheduled in the petition without further application. In the case, however, in which the student has achieved eligibility for Leave of Absence because of the postponements of deadlines for course work as a result of an identified medical problem, the Yale College Dean's Office may require medical clearance from the University Health Services before the student's return from the Leave of Absence. A student is eligible to take one or two terms of Leave of Absence during his or her undergraduate years; thus a student who decides to spend more than two terms away must withdraw and later apply for readmission. A student in this situation may apply to return after a one-term withdrawal if the withdrawal occurs at the conclusion of a Leave of Absence, since he or she left in good academic standing and since at least one fall term and one spring term have elapsed. |
