Writing Center

The Yale College Writing Center oversees several programs that can help students improve their writing. To help you with individual essays, a Bass Writing Tutor works in each residential college. Writing tutors are available to help with any piece of writing—from course papers to senior essays to fellowship applications—and at any stage of development, from initial notes to a near-finished draft. At the Center itself, located at 35 Broadway, additional tutoring is offered by advanced undergraduates and by graduate students who specialize in writing for specific disciplines, such as economics or science, as well as tutoring for students who are writing in English as a second language. In addition to tutoring, the Center sponsors workshops, readings, and mini-courses focused on distinct genres (writing history, writing comedy) or techniques (working with original sources, writing introductions). More information about the Writing Center and its programs is available on the Writing Center Web site.
