Academic Media & Technolog (AM&T), a unit of Information Technology Services, provides Yale College Faculty and students with a wide variety of information technology and media services for teaching and learning. A select subset of services is described below; for up-to-date information on all resources, visit the AM&T Web site.
1. Web Pages and Resources for Classes. Academic Media & Technology supports the Classes*v2 server for the online components of courses. The system includes a variety of features, among them announcements, syllabi, course resources, e-mail lists, discussion forums, assignments, drop boxes for student homework, and course rosters with student photos. Course sites are automatically created for all courses listed in the Registrar's Office system. Faculty and students log on to the at Classes*v2 server with their Yale NetID and password.
In addition to providing space for course materials, the Classes*v2 server offers personal storage space for individual use. Instructors may also request "project sites" for collaboration with others or for departmental use. 2. Mailing Lists. All participants in a class on the Classes*v2 server are automatically included in a mailing list for the instructor's use. Instructors can send e-mail to all students or to selected students in the class. Instructors can also create personal mailing lists to manage other groups. Visit PantheonHelp for more information.
3. Support for Teaching with Technology. Two groups in Academic Media and Technology provide digital multimedia and technology enhancements in support of teaching. The Instructional Technology Group (ITG) offers one-on-one and group training on the use of technology to enhance pedagogy. The Instructional Solutions division of the Center for Media and Instructional Innovation (CMI2) partners with faculty members to develop innovative uses of media and technology for teachers and learners both on and off campus.
4. Media Services, including Classroom Technology & Event Services, Photographic & Digital Imaging Services, and Graphics & Illustration Services.
a. Classroom Technology & Event Services, located at 212 York Street and 333 Cedar Street, provides audiovisual support for the central and medical campuses. b. Photographic & Digital Imaging Services, located at 59 High Street, provides the following services in support of teaching, learning, and research: slide to digital conversion (35mm and lantern slides), digital slide production, high-resolution scanning, large-format camera scans, studio and location photography, and large-format printing. c. Graphics & Illustration Services, located at 333 Cedar Street, provides the following services in support of teaching, learning, and research: graphs and diagrams; illustrations (medical and cartoon); publication design; poster titles and roll posters; certificates; medical photography; and scanning services. 5. Audio/Visual Production and Duplication. The Broadcast Solutions Group of the Center for Media and Instructional Innovation (CMI2) produces video and audio programming for campus and world distribution.
