Deadlines and Updates
The schedule of deadlines for the YCPS is usually sent out in early January, with the deadline for copy submission falling in early February, about the third or fourth week of the spring term. This deadline is a firm one. The necessity of meeting the commitment to the printer renders the deadlines for the most part nonnegotiable. Although the editor cannot prepare all of the copy at once, it is essential that all departments submit their material at the prescribed time, even if it is still incomplete, since checking a course in one department often entails reference to the copy of another department.
Departments will continue to submit information for new courses through the online Course Proposal Form (CPF). Once a DUS has submitted a CPF to the Course of Study Committee, the YCPS course information will become available for viewing in the online Course Information Management and Publication system (CIMP). Editorial work begins on new courses while their approval by the Course of Study Committee and the Yale College Faculty is still pending.
Updates to material already submitted through CIMP can be made throughout the preparation of the YCPS, although some changes are difficult to make late in the editing cycle. The kind of change requested and the state of the copy at the time of the request determine which changes can be made. Material submitted so late that it would hold up publication of the book cannot be included in the printed YCPS.
After the YCPS goes to press, departments will continue to submit additional course updates through CIMP for inclusion in the online course information systems.
