U.K. and Irish Fellowships
There are many ways to fund study in the United Kingdom and Ireland, whether you are a citizen of the US or any another country. Once you have a shortlist of the universities and degree courses in which you are most interested, it’s time to look for funding. Marshall, Mitchell, Rhodes, and Gates are among the best-known fellowships, but there are many more! At the Office of Fellowship Programs Kate Dailinger advises Yale College students and alumni on fellowships for study in the UK and Ireland, and also works with Yale graduate and professional students interested in applying for the Gates, Marshall, Mitchell, and Rhodes. She’ll be glad to help you make the most of the opportunities available. View contact and appointment information. The fellowships and grants listed below are available to students seeking study opportunities in the United Kingdom or Ireland. These awards are administered both by offices within Yale University and outside; please see individual awards for specific information. Administered by Yale Office of Fellowship Programs

Where Else to Look for Funding
- Yale Student Grants Database and Resource Links for Fellowships
Take advantage of extended listings for fellowships at Yale and far beyond - British Council: Scholarship search
Allows searches by country of origin, subject area, and host institution. - Hotcourses: Student Money
Allows searches by academic institution, subject area, and key word. - Look locally! Often the best option for funding is through the university you would like to attend. Go carefully through their website: start with information for prospective students, and, as at Yale, remember also to search departmental and college websites for funding. Don’t limit your search to funding earmarked for international students. Some additional tips:
• At Oxford, one of the best places to start is their funding search. Be sure to get your Oxford application in early enough to apply for the Clarendon and other university fellowships (usually before the January application deadline).
• At Cambridge, be sure to get your application in by the appropriate Gates and other International Trusts deadline (timetable here). In addition to information provided for prospective students, it is worth looking at the annual “Awards” issue of The Reporter. - Funding for Development Studies in the UK
