Science and QR Education in Yale College
Beginning with the Class of 2009, Yale College students will be required to complete two courses in each of three disciplinary areas: humanities, natural science and social science. In addition, each student will fulfill a skills requirement by completing a foreign language requirement and two courses each in writing and quantitative reasoning.
Approval of courses for the quantitative reasoning (QR) requirement and the natural science (Sc) requirement is performed by a faculty Quantitative Reasoning Council and a faculty Science Council, respectively.
These councils are also charged with overseeing the enhancement of undergraduate education in science and quantitative reasoning through a variety of activities carried out through the Office of Science and QR teaching, The Office of Science and QR Tutoring and The Office of Undergraduate Research.
