Science & Quantitative Reasoning

Faculty Resources

Science and QR Education in Yale College

Beginning with the Class of 2009, Yale College students will be required to complete two courses in each of three disciplinary areas: humanities, natural science and social science. In addition, each student will fulfill a skills requirement by completing a foreign language requirement and two courses each in writing and quantitative reasoning.

Approval of courses for the quantitative reasoning (QR) requirement and the natural science (Sc) requirement is performed by a faculty Quantitative Reasoning Council and a faculty Science Council, respectively.

These councils are also charged with overseeing the enhancement of undergraduate education in science and quantitative reasoning through a variety of activities carried out through the Yale College Science and Quantitative Reasoning Center.
