Archives 300 Project

The Tercentennial provides an opportunity for Yale to focus more systematically on improving its stewardship of the University’s history and traditions. Manuscripts and Archives is responsible for selecting, organizing, preserving, and providing access to the history of Yale as documented in its records, publications, and memorabilia. The Archives 300 project is an intensive five-year initiative to better fulfill this responsibility by instituting a University-wide records management program, enhancing description of and access to the holdings of the Archives, and developing information resources on Yale history. The project is also investigating and proposing solutions to the new challenges to preserving and providing access to University documentation posed by the widespread introduction of electronic records and digital resources. The resulting system of policies, procedures, and systems will ensure the long-range retention of and ready access to a range of materials documenting the history of the University for research, administrative, and community use.
