The
Association of Yale Alumni
participated fully in the planning of Tercentennial
programs and events in order to engage Yale
alumni as fully as possible. The AYA colaborated
with the University in preparing for the Alumni
Leadership Reunion weekend in April of 2001,
as well as provided staff and promotional
support for other campus events. The AYA also
held its biannual Assembly programs in conjunction
with the April and October weekends. With
respect to 150 Yale Clubs and Associations
worldwide, the AYA coordinated a project for
which the Clubs scheduled major events in
their regions to take place in conjunction
with the Tercentennial's finale weekend. The
University and the AYA cooperated to provide
the participating Clubs with a simultaneous,
nationwide satellite broadcast of the closing
moments from New Haven.
Finally,
the AYA offered a series of special tours
in its alumni education travel program that
featured Yale-related destinations and activities.
These programs took alumni to a variety of
locations with a Yale faculty leader. Each
Tercentennial program sought to make special
connections to an aspect of Yale's history
and traditions. Planned trips: Splendors of
South India, Traditional China, Normandy and
the Seine, Cruising the Continent of Europe,
Great Cities of the Baltic and Santa Fe: Three
Cultures in the American Southwest.
