2009 Family Fun Summer Event and BBQ

When: Saturday, July 25, 2009

In tne midst of an absolutely glorious summer day, the YAAA Summer Event took place in the Kline Biology Tower Courtyard. It was a day for family, fun filled with activities and games for all age groups. We all enjoyed the great music, and scrumptious food!!!

Dear YAAAA,  
I just wanted to take the time and belatedly tell you what a fabulous time my family had at the Summer Gathering Picnic. It was beautiful for my children, grandchildren and parents to see a sea of faces much like our own having a good time. The music was extraordinary, I haven’t danced that much in years. It was warm feeling to be out there doing the electric slide with my daughter, granddaughter and adopted sisters. That is what family is all about. And that’s exactly what YAAA did, brought together families in love, peace in harmony. Even if not related by blood, there was so much love around there you knew somewhere back in our ancestry we must have been. My parents are both Ministers and there were a few out there, and the only other place you find people having a truly good time like that is at a church picnic, no violence, cussin’ or fussin’ as they say. To see my grandson, playing basketball with someone else’s father who took time out to be his hoop. You guys did a fabulous job and I hope I’m not the last or only one to tell you so. At the end of the day what confirmed it all for me was when everyone called me to say what a good time they had, so I knew then, it wasn’t only me.........Excuse me but did I mentioned the food?!....It was totally off the chain, there was some Carolina Ladies and Gents handling that outdoor kitchen…it had to be.. I’m from the South.. I know food from the soul and that’s exactly what it tasted like, it was made from the soul, delicious….. Again thank you for taking and making the time to show my family a fabulous time. They are already looking forward to next year.

I just wanted to say thank you for putting together the YAAA BBQ. The food and the activities were wonderful. My grandson played volleyball for over 2 hours. My family and I had a great time. You and the University deserve a pat on the back.

The Food was great the Day was beautiful and the friendship was out of this world I talked with people that I have seen around campus but never really socialized with.
