Ezzat Ibrahim Youssef | Egypt | 2006
As the deputy head of the political department at Al-Ahram, the largest daily newspaper in Egypt and one of the most influential papers in the Middle East, Ezzat Ibrahim Youssef shapes news coverage across a range of issues. After advising a U.S. Congressman for six months on Middle East issues as a Congressional Fellow in 2004, Youssef returned to Egypt to report on his country’s first multi-candidate presidential election. He is the editor of “Agenda,” a bi-weekly page in the Al-Ahram International Edition, which reviews and analyzes articles and research studies published by leading international think tanks. Youssef’s objective reporting and analysis have been recognized for contributing to a wave of reformist journalism in Egypt and the Middle East.
Post-Fellowship:Youssef co-founded the Citizens for Development organization in Cairo in 2007. He has served as an adviser to MidAmr Group in Washington, DC which organizes trips for Egyptian lawmakers to the US Congress. |
