Ocean Rower and Sustainability Advocate
Savage is the only woman to have rowed solo across all the major oceans. Her mission is to use her ocean voyages to shine light on ecological challenges such as plastics pollution in the North Pacific Garbage Patch and the impact of climate change on small island states such as Kiribati. A former London-based management consultant, she is now a prominent advocate for global sustainability issues and has worked with organizations like 350.org on international climate change campaigns. Her personal transformation from office professional to ocean rower is documented in her book, Rowing the Atlantic: Lessons Learned on the Open Ocean, and in the short documentary, “Rowing the Atlantic.” Savage was named National Geographic Adventurer of the Year in 2010, and has also been recognized as a Climate Hero by the United Nations Environmental Programme.
