Managing Director, Microsoft South Africa

Mteto Nyati is the Managing Director of Microsoft South Africa. He came to Microsoft from a 12-year career at IBM, where he held a series of senior executive roles, including that of executive director of IBM's South African operations. Since joining Microsoft, Nyati has been aligning the software giant to the priorities of the country. Mteto has been the driving force behind Microsoft’s massive Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Programme, which will see the company spend $65m to grow several small black-owned software companies over the next seven years. Under Nyati’s management, Microsoft has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Basic Education to help transform education.
