Chantal-Line Carpentier | Canada | 2006
PhotoChantal-Line Carpentier heads the Environment, Economy and Trade Program at the Commission for Environmental Cooperation, an international organization created by Canada, Mexico and the United States under the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation and NAFTA.  She negotiated the North American green purchasing initiative and secured a mandate to promote the development of renewable energy.  Carpentier also leads the Commission’s biannual North American Trade and Environment Symposia.  She has worked for the United Nations Development Program, the World Bank, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and the International Food Policy Research Institute.  Her prior roles also include service on the Steering Committees of the Sustainable Coffee Partnership and the Pew Initiative on Food and Biotechnology.

Post-fellowship:

In December 2007, Carpentier became the Sustainable Development Officer in the Division for Sustainable Development, Department of Economic and Social Affairs at the UN headquarters in New York.
