Vice Chairman, Hellenic Capital Market Commission
Xenofon Avlonitis has served in a number of positions at the Hellenic Capital Market Commission, where has played a crucial role in the development of Greece’s newly established capital markets. Prior to serving as Vice Chairman, he was director of the Department of Public Offerings & Supervision of Listed Companies. In that capacity, he was responsible for the coordination of public offerings for the Athens Stock Exchange; he approved prospectuses, monitored transparency requirements, and implemented international financial reporting standards. In addition to increasing the profile and credibility of the Greek market, he works at the European level on the regulation of capital markets. Avlonitis serves on the board of directors of Greece’s Accounting and Auditing Standards Oversight Board, the executive committee of the Institute of Financial Economic Management, and the standing Committee of European Securities Regulators.
