Backup Child Care Subsidized by Yale

Yale employees are eligible for 40 hours of subsidized backup child care per fiscal year, from July 1 through June 30. When regular child care is not available for work-related activities, Caregivers On Call can provide trained caregivers to care for mildly ill as well as healthy children in your home or in a hotel when traveling for Yale. The Yale WorkLife Program, which oversees the backup service, reported that close to 300 members of the Yale community have already registered for the program. Depending on University income level, parents will be billed between $9 and $15 per hour. Caregivers On Call has intake specialists available to process and track calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Keep in mind, when traveling for work, Caregivers On Call may be able to provide parents with on-site child care. Caregivers On Call has a national network with access to providers in all 50 states, including many major metropolitan areas and smaller communities.

It is recommended that parents and guardians register before they need the service. Note: registration is free. For additional information and confidential registration materials visit www.yale.edu/backupcare.

You can also get information by calling the Yale WorkLife Program at 432-8069 or Caregivers On Call directly at 1-888-899-2462. The WorkLife Series offers Back-Up Care Briefings. For more information or to register go to www.yale.edu/worklife/events or call 432-8069.
