The “Women in Leadership” Conference is the first-ever conference at Yale to bring together female students and alumnae for a cross-generational dialogue about women’s leadership in the present day. The conference will enable student participants to connect with their peers and to meet women in a variety of fields who can offer personal and professional advice. During the one-day conference, participants will attend workshops and panel sessions led by alumnae on a variety of issues confronting women’s professional and personal success. The alumnae are a dynamic and diverse group and are excited for the opportunity to meet current students and return to their alma mater. Editors, lawyers, writers, artists, businesswomen, mothers, entrepreneurs and activists have already confirmed their attendance at the conference.
The conference offers a unique opportunity for you to gain knowledge and contacts that can help you on your path at Yale and afterward, and we hope that you will consider applying to take part. The Women’s Leadership Initiative is currently accepting applications to the conference. Please submit your application to wlileadershipconference@gmail.com by Sunday, October 14th at 11:59 PM. Also, feel free to email womeninleadership@panlists.yale.edu with any questions regarding the Conference.
The “Women in Leadership” Conference is the first conference to be hosted at Yale that brings together alumnae and current Yale students.
There are not currently many avenues for Yale students to connect with Yale alumnae. Not only have women attended Yale for fewer years than men, but there are also fewer established networks of Yale women. This conference represents an attempt to bring together Yale women for a cross-generational exchange on leadership, life choices, and issues that need to be solved by women leaders in the future.
Part of the mission of WLI is to create an environment that empowers female leaders at Yale. There is nothing that could be more empowering to current female students than to hear from graduates about their experiences and perspectives on the world. We hope you will consider joining us for what promises to be an unprecedented and transformative event.
Alumnae are invited to attend the conference to lead workshops and speak on panels in three subject areas: pre-professional development, skill-building, and women’s issues for tomorrow’s leaders. Student participants will be introduced to a holistic and personal view of leadership. They will also learn: how to develop a fundamental skill-set for being a leader; how to put leadership into practice in the professional world; and how to be a leader on issues facing women in the future. There will be three sessions during the day, and students will register in advance for workshops and panels.
Alumnae have a great deal to offer students that will empower and inspire a new generation of female leaders. Additionally, the day offers alumnae the chance to connect with other alums from different professions, graduating classes, and geographic locations.
If you are interested in participating in the Conference, please contact Hilary Cohen, Chair of Alumnae Relations, at hilary.cohen@yale.edu.
