In recent years, the humanities of pluralism have begun to reassert their commitment to understand the humanity of likeness, shared capacity, and common aspiration that was always implicit in them.
The interplay of these two trajectories—the endeavor to describe human diversity and the investigation of the founding of this diversity on human commonality—is a source of much energy and innovative thinking in humanistic research. It is from this interplay that the Humanities/
Humanity program takes its name.
Humanities/Humanity supports multidisciplinary research in the humanities and related disciplines. The program enables teams of Yale faculty to gather scholars from across the US and beyond for intensive, seminar-like discussion and exploration of foundational themes breaching disciplinary boundaries. It fosters ongoing exploration of these themes, and it supports the on-line, open-access publication of position papers resulting from the discussions
