Women's Spoken Word Performance Group: First meeting
Wednesday October 22nd 5-7pm
WFF Office (305 Crown St).

This year, WFF and other women's groups on campus hope to start a spoken word performance group as a forum for women's voices and a discussion about gender in the Yale Community. Spoken word performance consists of monologues, stories, or poetry, usually personal in content, performed by individuals or groups. At its best it can be personally touching, but also a raw and powerful tool for advocacy. The group, which we hope will include women from every part of the Yale community (undergrad, grad, staff, faculty, and administrative), will meet regularly and practice in a workshop environment, and ultimately perform our work in the first half of second semester. No performance experience expected or necessary!

For more information, please contact molly.clark-barol@yale.edu or arun.storrs@yale.edu.

Gender around the World: A Conversation with the Women of the Yale World Fellows
Tuesday, October 7, 2008
5:30-8:00pm
Betts House, 393 Prospect Street, Third Floor

This event features the women of the 2008 Yale World Fellows in a panel discussion moderated by Professor Judith Resnik, former Co-Chair of the Women Faculty Forum.

During the panel, the women of the World Fellows will reflect on the following questions:

  • 1. How, if at all, does gender affect your work?
  • 2. Has gender played a role in the trajectory of your career?
  • 3. Is gender, in turn, a focus of your work? Do you work on issues that you or others perceive as "gender coded"?

Following the panel, a reception with refreshments will be held on the First Floor of Betts House.
