WFF Mission

Promote scholarship on gender and scholarship about and by women across all schools of the university.
Foster gender equity throughout the university.
Promote collaboration and networking on these issues between faculty, students, administration, and alumnae

The Yale Women Faculty Forum (WFF) emerged from the effort, during Yale's tercentennial year, to highlight the presence of women at the university and the accomplishments of Yale alumnae. Professors and staff from across the campus -- from diverse fields in the college, the professional and graduate schools -- came together to develop programs for the Tercentennial. We learned not only that we enjoy doing work together but also that there is a great deal more that we could yet do. To that end, with the support of the President and administration, the Council of the WFF is continuing to work in conjunction with alumni/ae and interested faculty and students to foster community for the many women at Yale and to deepen our understandings of the effects and implications of gender on all fields of thought.

Mary Miller appointed Dean of Yale College

Mary E. Miller, Sterling Professor of the History of Art and Master of Saybrook College, was appointed the next Dean of Yale College, effective December 1.

Women's Spoken Word Performance Group: First meeting
Wednesday October 22nd 5-7pm
WFF Office (305 Crown St).

This year, WFF and other women's groups on campus hope to start a spoken word performance group as a forum for women's voices and a discussion about gender in the Yale Community. Spoken word performance consists of monologues, stories, or poetry, usually personal in content, performed by individuals or groups. The group, which we hope will include women from every part of the Yale community (undergrad, grad, staff, faculty, and administrative), will meet regularly and practice in a workshop environment, and ultimately perform our work in the first half of second semester.

Back-Up Child Care
Current Yale faculty, students, and staff are eligible for 40 hours of subsidized backup child care per fiscal year. The new year for this service began July 1, 2007 and runs through June 30, 2008. Its never too early to register for the service! Keep in mind, when traveling for work to meetings or conferences, Caregivers On Call may be able to provide parents with on-site child care. They have a national network with access to providers in all 50 states, including major metropolitan areas and smaller communities.
