The center is open 7 a.m. -- 6 p.m. Monday -- Friday. For more information, contact Bright Horizons at Yale West Campus at (203)-795-3564 or go to http://centers.brighthorizons.com/yalewestcampus/
Note: (For additional information on child care for members of the Yale community, contact the WorkLife Program at (203) 432-8069 or go to www.yale.edu/childcare)

Copiers and Fax Machines

Order fax machines and copiers through your business manager or from a Yale vendor. To order copiers through the YPPS copier rental program, call 432-3745.

Dining

West Campus is equipped with small kitchen areas and break rooms in the buildings. For a list of local dining spots, visit http://www.yale.edu/westcampus/dining.html.

Environmental Health & Safety

Yale’s Office of Environmental Health and Safety is eager to work with new tenants to review procedures and handle any special requests. All fire safety protocols are in place, and fire extinguishers are on site. The EHS West Campus point person is Josh Armstrong, 785-3727.

Facilities Services

The power plant at West Campus is 100% operational, making steam and chilled water to heat and cool the buildings. The power plant is also used to distribute electricity to many of the buildings. All buildings are heated and cooled in an energy-efficient manner—even unoccupied buildings, to preserve their integrity. FAMIS, the same automated work-request system that is used on all Yale University campuses, is used to request and track any type of facilities service, including building repairs (mechanical and electrical), temperature problems, custodial service, pest control, and so on. The West Campus currently staffs several facility engineers, a customer service manager, and three shifts (24 hours) of highly skilled trade workers. All tenants receive routine building maintenance at no charge; however, building customization or any non-routine work will be charged to the department, as is the current practice on the Central and Medical campuses. All occupied areas receive routine custodial services; unoccupied buildings receive minimal custodial services. Yale Facilities provides trash and recycling removal site wide. For building services requests, call 737-3005.

Grounds Maintenance

The West Campus’s 35 acres of plush rolling lawns, decorative shrubs, ornamental bamboo and colorful flower beds are carefully tended by Yale’s gardeners and groundskeeping staff.  Yale’s master gardeners care for and professionally prune the many native oak and maple tree woodlands  as well as the weeping cherries, sycamores and gracious dawn redwoods.  While caring for the lawns, trees and other plant life, are constantly mindful and respectful to the many native species of wildlife also residing on the campus.

ITS Telecommunications

ITS is hard-wiring buildings for voice and data hookups. There will be voice-over IP service (VOIP), and 150 emergency analog phones will be located throughout the campus. ITS will provide wireless network (WiFi) in all buildings along with wired network service and telephones. Currently, W-B25, W-B31, and W-A21 have wireless service. Business managers should process a START request for all ITS interior hookups, as is standard procedure on Central Campus.

Parking

Access by car will be through use of Yale ID/Prox card, with a parking permit. For rates and information, see www.yale.edu/parking.

Security

The campus has 24/7 security coverage based at the Visitor Center, and the main security phone number is 737-3111. All buildings have Yale key-card access. Security does frequent rounds to check all buildings. Cameras are in place and video monitoring is used. Hiring managers are responsible for supplying names and prox ID numbers of employees to security to ensure they have gate and building access. The towns of West Haven and Orange provide first-responder service for medical, police, and fire emergencies, working closely with Yale police and security.

Employees can use three gates to access the campus: 137 Frontage Road, 400 Morgan Lane, and 280 Heffernan Drive. An employee’s key card must be activated to use these gates, which is done through the Security office at West Campus. Contact Judy Steinis at 737-3111.
