Is there shuttle service between campuses?
Yes, there is on-demand shuttle service between Central and West Campus. Call 737-3021 to schedule a pickup—when possible give 24-hour notice. Additional shuttle service will be added as occupancy grows.
Current shuttle service- Monday through Friday:
- 8 a.m. Central Campus pick-up*, 8:30 a.m. drop-off at West Campus
- 4:30 p.m. West Campus pick-up, 5 p.m. Central Campus drop-off*
- Between these two times, call for on-demand service at 737-3021.
- After 6 p.m., there is a evening door-to-door shuttle which originates from Central Campus; call 432-6330

Where can I buy coffee or lunch?
The cafeteria in W-B25 is currently closed, but there are plans with Yale Dining Services for a phased-in dining service. West Campus is equipped with small kitchen areas and break rooms in the buildings. In the meantime, visit the dining link on this Web site, which lists local eateries, coffee shops and favorite take-out locales. How far is West Campus from New Haven?
Approximately seven miles.
What are Yale’s future plans for the West Campus?
A site capacity study has been done and is being finalized for presentation to the Yale Corporation, which will formalize it. The plan will cover the next 25 to 50 years, and it includes incorporating the arts in addition to research and science at West Campus.
What departments are currently located at West Campus?
Facilities, Security, ITS, and Grounds Maintenance have a small staff presence at West Campus. A few laboratories and some of the Peabody and KGL collections are relocating there as well. The child-care center run by Bright Horizons is already fully active on the site.
How will I get my mail?
New units moving to West Campus should apply for a West Haven/Allingtown P.O. Box: contact Lynne Beauchemin at 764-9310. Packages should be shipped to 300 Heffernan Drive, West Haven, CT 06516. Daily delivery of campus mail is in place and should be addressed as follows: Person’s name, Department name, West Campus, Building #. There is a receiving station set up in W-A42; call Frank Ramos at 737-3024 with questions.
How close will the new train station be?
The West Haven train station plan has been approved and has funding. It should be operational by 2011 and will be approximately 1.2 miles from campus. West Campus will offer shuttle service to and from the station. The Orange train station is not yet funded. If it is eventually built, it will be within walking distance of the campus just south of the child-care center in building W-E29.
What happened to Bayer HealthCare?
Bayer merged with another pharmaceutical company and no longer needed such a large site. It relocated support departments to other sites, mostly in New York and New Jersey.
