The Office of the Vice President for Global & Strategic Initiatives, under the direction of Linda Koch Lorimer, oversees the following university departments, programs and services:
Association of Yale Alumni (AYA)
AYA serves a central role in the University's external relations with alumni. AYA's programs and services are open to all alumni worldwide, and provide multiple opportunities to continue relationships with Yale following graduation. AYA offers strategic and administrative support for numerous alumni activities including service initiatives and to a wide range of alumni organizations, such as Yale College Classes, Yale clubs and regional alumni associations, shared interest and identity groups, and the Graduate School Alumni Association.
Office of Digital Media and Dissemination
The Office of Digital Media and Dissemination is comprised of two units – the Broadcast & Media Center and the Digital Dissemination team. The mission of the Broadcast & Media Center is to support faculty, researchers, administrators, and other community members by facilitating their participation in the global media dialogue on issues of great societal importance. The Digital Dissemination team identifies new distribution opportunities that will increase the reach and maximize the impact of the University's educational content.
Office of Emergency Management
The Office of Emergency Management facilitates emergency preparedness and response at Yale. This includes the development, training and exercising of the Emergency Operations Plan, emergency communications and the Yale Alert system, and business continuity plans.
Office of International Affairs (OIA)
The Office of International Affairs serves as an administrative resource to support the international activities of all schools, departments, offices, centers, and organizations at Yale; to promote Yale and its faculty to international audiences; and to increase the visibility of Yale's international activities around the globe.
Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS)
OISS serves both as a center of support and programs for international students, scholars and their families, as well as a resource on U.S. regulations related to international students and scholars studying and working here.
The Office of Marketing and Trademark Licensing oversees the use of the Yale name as well as the University's participation in motion pictures and television.
Office of Public Affairs & Communications (OPAC)
The Office of Public Affairs & Communications provides strategic communications and public relations counsel to the university. The office promotes faculty research and university programs and people throughtraditional and social media; publishes YaleNews, Working@Yale and ELIne; and serves as a convener and promoter of best practices for communications professionals across the campus.
Office of Sustainability
The Office of Sustainability facilitates the development and implementation of sustainable practices at Yale through education, outreach, research, and strategic partnerships at the local, national, regional, and global levels.
Yale University Press
The Yale University Press, founded in 1908, is a premiere publisher of books and other materials that further scholarly investigation, advance interdisciplinary inquiry, stimulate public debate, educate both within and outside the classroom, and enhance cultural life.
Office of the University Printer
The Office of the University Printer develops and communicates standards for the branding and design of Yale's publications in all media; it is responsible as well for annual publication of the University's course catalogs—The Bulletin of Yale University.
The Yale Visitor Center serves as the "front door" to the University, providing information and daily campus tours. The Center provides a welcoming atmosphere to visitors from around the nation and the world, offers tours in eight languages and supports economic development in the region.
