Since 1953, the Ulysses S. Grant Foundation has drawn on the experiences and enthusiasm of Yale undergraduates to create and run an educational enrichment program for talented and gifted New Haven middle school students.  Each winter the U. S. Grant Foundation Summer Program seeks motivated Yale undergraduates to teach during its summer program. Yale undergraduates have the unique opportunity of designing and teaching their own classes. U.S Grant seeks applicants who have experience working with city students and a commitment to social justice.

Outline of Main Responsibilities

o      Develop, plan and teach three classes each day to motivated New Haven middle school students.  Class size is 8 to15 students.  In the afternoons, lead and participate in activities and field trips.  Teachers teach two sections of either an Investigations Class (Math and Science focus) or a Humanities Class (Reading and Writing focus) and then one elective class of their choice and design.

o      Attend all teacher training sessions.

o      Participate in weekly staff meetings.
